Breaking the toilet taboo with Domestos
Who wants to talk about toilets? We do.
The sanitation crisis
Did you know:
An estimated 2.5 billion people do not have access to a clean and safe toilet, of which 1 billion still have to defecate in the open, putting everyone’s health at risk?
Around 500,000 children die every year from diarrhoea caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation - that's over 1,400 children a day?
443 million school days are lost every year due to a lack of access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene?. And girls are missing out on an education because their schools lack clean, safe toilets.
And, what's more, of the UN’s eight Millennium Development Goals to be realised by 2015, sanitation is the most off target. Why? Maybe because although we're lucky enough to use toilets, we're not talking about them. It's time to break the silence and get us all focused on making clean, safe toilets a reality for all.
